about

Two years after the release of the debut “Downloader” the Dresden based band Hot Mama are about to release their second longplay album. In the meantime there have been two single rleases (“Alive” and “Let It Die”) that had already pointed out clearly that the new material is a huge step forward for the band, compared to its predecessor. Hot Mama is not just a regular female-fronted rockband anymore! Sonya and her boys have brought in all their experience from the first album and have developed their own style, that sounds new, unique and undoubtedly extraordinary. The eleven sons demonstrate a mixture of brute guitar rhythms, complex beats and catchy vocal lines. The lyrics are picking out global problems as well as personal challenges. All in all the material sound aggressive and experimental, without losing the important melodic approach. The sometimes almost wacky structures of the songs and sudden changes in rhythm develop a high tension that spreads easily over the whole length of the album. Listeners from younger generations might even use the word “Djent”, to describe the nature of the sound.
Re-Earth has been made in cooperation with other artists like Bernd Harmsen and Hilton Theissen, who has produced the album.
